Conrad Allen

Conrad’s genuine desire to allow every course attendee from every walk of life (beginner or more experienced) leave their course equipped with Real Skills for Real Situations, coupled with his humorous and light-hearted delivery on courses, belies his over 21 years of serious civil and military survival experience: ranging from 5 years with RAF Mountain Rescue to Psychological Operations in Sarajevo and his roles at the Defence Survive Evade Resist Extract (SERE) Training Organisation at RAF St Mawgan, where as a SERE Officer he was responsible for survival training course design, methodology and instruction implementation, including training military survival training instructors.

In addition to instructing in all environments survival training, Conrad has been the officer responsible for shaping current military escape training, and continues to provide services at the highest level in the Military Escape, Evasion, and Personnel Recovery spheres as a respected expert, invited to attend numerous international conferences and development forums in the field. He is also the UK's sole specialist in urban environments escape and evasion techniques and conducted a major MoD study into urban isolation, evasion and risk reduction along with development of future Joint Personnel Recovery.

Despite the serious and considerable experience Conrad has gained in the survival world, he firmly states that this subject is so vast no one will ever know everything. However, he ensures that all attendees know 'enough'. As with all instructors at Trueways, Conrad's first aim is to provide all with the "Real Skills for Real Situations" which each may need, whether on Professional Courses or a weekend in the woods learning the basics.
