Trueways Survival School operates courses in a wide variety of UK training locations. Sites range from remote moorland areas, through dense woodlands and forests, coastal and beach sites and urban course training sites. Our UK locations span the UK from as far north as Aberdeen in Scotland, down through Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Stafford, Gloucester, Surrey, Hampshire and into Devon.

All Trueways training sites have been hand picked to ensure absolute suitability to the courses in which they run, providing a diverse variety of habitats, wild foods and climates throughout the year.

Trueways survival courses offer participants the opportunity to learn and practice the skills and techniques needed to survive without the comfort and convenience of four walls and a supermarket! As well as being highly fun and rewarding, these acclaimed courses are based upon the tried and tested methodology of Trueways most senior team member – none other than bestselling SAS Survival Expert John “Lofty” Wiseman, so everything that is taught, demonstrated and explained has the highest level of authority.

Lofty Wiseman's is one of the world's foremost experts on survival. His teachings, including multi-million best selling book, 'The SAS Survival Guide' is used the world over as reference by everyday people and experts alike and can be found in 18 languages. Trueways and Lofty also produced the best selling 'Trueways Survival Skills with Lofty Wiseman' DVD as well as the SAS Survival Guide iPhone and iPad apps and the 'Trueways Survival Skills' playing cards.

Trueways Courses

Trueways survival training begins with an introduction to the basic elements of survival, then steadily develops and expands upon this groundwork as students gain more knowledge, experience and confidence. All Trueways courses are hands-on and practice-based, and students will apply their skills with increasing independence as they move forward in the programme:

Survival psychology
Basic survival equipment
Shelter siting and construction
Fire making and maintenance in all conditions
Heat management and conservation
Signalling and rescue
Water acquisition and treatment
Food identification, acquisition, testing and preparation
Navigation without aid

Trueways UK Survival Courses run year-round and most course vouchers are valid for one year (extensions available at extra cost). Course attendees receive a Trueways Survival Tin at the begining of each course and a certificate on completion.

Level 1	1 Day	Open to All	Introduction to Survival - covering all the skills of survival and wilderness living, with hands-on at fire-lighting, shelter building and acquiring water and food. A great starter course for those who want to venture into survival and wilderness living skills.
Level 2	2 Days (Weekend)	Open to All	Basic Survival Skills Course - An introduction and good grounding in all the skills necessary to survive in the wilderness anywhere in the world. Covering shelter-building, fire, water, wild food, natural navigation skills, survival medical and psychology.
Level 2	3 Days (Weekend)	Open to All	Extended Basic Survival Skills Course - The same syllabus as our 2 Day course but with the advantage of developing some routines and added confidence through an extra night out in your shelter and more time for hands-on practice at all the basics throughout.
Level 3	5 Days	Open to All	Basic through to Advanced Survival Course - Our 5 Day Survival Course takes you from the beginning all the way to developing advanced skills and knowledge. This course allows time to develop and practise all the techniques necessary for extended survival, including different shelter types, weaning away from using outdoor equipment and doing without, living entirely on wild food, etc.
Level 3	3 Days	Level 2 Certificate Required	Advanced Survival Skills - For those who maybe don't have the time to attend a 5 Day course but want to continue to a more advanced level after attending one of our Basic Survival Skills courses, or as preparation for our Applied Advanced Course. This course takes you to the same level as our 5 Day course.
Level 4	7 days	Level 3 Certificate Required	Applied Advanced Survival Course - Your chance to experience as close to a real survival situation as we can create safely. A full week living entirely off the land using the knowledge and skills acquired from our basic to advanced courses. Come away with new knowledge and skills, and confidence grounded in experience, knowing that you are ready for anything!
Level 2	2 Days (Weekend)	Open to All 7-15yrs plus parent/guardians or accompanying adults	Young Survivalist Course - Our acclaimed 2 Day course for young persons, following exactly the same syllabus as our adult course, but delivered to suit the younger attendee. Described by The Times as “...the best course for aspiring Ray Mears.” An introduction and good grounding in all the skills necessary to survive in the wilderness anywhere in the world. Covering shelter-building, fire, water, wild food, natural navigation skills, survival medical and psychology. Attendant parents or adults are fully involved too.
Level 2	2 Days (Weekend)	Level 2 Certificate or General Camp Craft skills required	Coastal Course - The course is based around a survival scenario, where you will have to provide for yourselves whilst marooned on the coastline. You will have to survive through applying the skills and techniques taught on a previous Trueways course whilst learning how to live entirely on what nature provides from the coastal land and the sea itself.
Level 2	3 Days (Weekend)	Open to All	Coastal Course - As with the 2 day coastal course, this course is based around a survival scenario, where you will have to provide for yourselves whilst marooned on the coastline. On the extended 3 day coastal survival course you will survive on what nature provides from the coastal land and the sea itself, with more time to cover additional skills and subjects openinh up the course to a wider range of attendees.
Level A	2 Days (Weekend)	Open to All	Emergency Preparedness Course - The 2 Day Trueways Home and Family Emergency Preparedness Course provides practical and informed training on how to prepare and cope with serious national emergencies. Epidemics and Pandemics, Social Unrest, Extreme Weather, Failure of Vital Services, Floods… there are a wide variety of possible emergency situations which might require an understanding of preparedness and what to do should an emergency occur.
